National Savings Schemes are made available to the citizens through a large network of 1.54 lakh Post Offices and branches of all Nationalised and three Private Commercial Banks namely, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. All the Small Savings Schemes have recently been authorised to Public Sector and Commercial Banks to be made available to the citizens.

To promote the habit of savings among masses, canvas to invest in National Savings Schemes and to provide doorstep services to the investors, 1.52 lakh Authorised Agents have been working under Standardised Agency System (SAS).

To educate housewives in family budgeting, and to generate regular savings, 2.12 lakh women agents under Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) have been appointed to canvas for 5 – Year National Savings Recurring Deposit Scheme.
